Interesting Fact: Cadiz is bordered by two other Andalucian provinces, that of Seville and Malaga Cadiz is situated on a rocky peninsular and is a busy port imports and exports are abundant. Other industries include Fishing and shipbuilding. There are Us and Spanish naval bases in the province. Founded by the Phoenicians founded the city around 1100 BC (making the city one of the oldest in europe). It was conquered some 600 years later by the Carthaginians and in the third century the Romans took over and called it Gades. After the fall of Rome the Moors invaded and Cadiz declined.

Other notable towns include Jerez de la Frontera, San Roque, Tarifa. The Cadiz coastline forms part of the Costa Del Sol and Costa de la Luz.
