Interesting Fact: La Rioja is famed for its wine production mainly in the area around Haro. Seven varieties are produced here ( four red and three white). More wine is exported from this region than any other in spain and one of the largest importers is the USA.

La Rioja is a province and autonomous community. It is the smallest region in Spain with a total population of approximately 300,000 inhabitants, almost half of whom live in La Rioja's capital city Logrono. An area of outstanding beauty is Tierra de Cameros which has wonderful scenery and several caves. The region is Mountainous to the south and lush countryside lay in the northern river valleys.

La Rioja is bordered to the east by Zaragoza province of Aragon and to the south and west by Castilla y Leons provinces of Soria and Burgos. To the north are the Basque Country province of Alava and the Navarra region
